About the Library Director

Meet Shannon Jensen, library director.

Shannon was raised in Evansdale, a student of Jewett, Bunger Jr. High and a graduate of East High School. After leaving for several years to explore life and to get away from her dad's camouflaged truck, she returned to the area to take over the position of the Evansdale Public Library director in 1997.

She has a degree in sign language interpreting and is a big-time computer and other miscellaneous gadget junkie, maintaining not only the library's website but the website for the city as well.

Shannon is married and has a miniature dachshund that serves as her surrogate child.  She loves to read, dance and listen to her iPod and her computer is her favorite appliance (forget the stove or microwave.)

She loves mysteries and says that Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series is her guilty pleasure.  She loves to help people find new authors and says that reader's advisory is one part of the job that tends to get overlooked, not because it's not done, because everybody talks about books in a library, but because it's not recognized for what it is: an integral part of library service.
